This Week's Book Pick

15 September 2016

The spectacular book “Journey to the River Sea” by Eva Ibbotson  is set in the Amazon Rainforest. This book really made me think differently about the Amazon.

Journey to the River Sea is about a girl named Maia who leaves her boarding school to go to the Amazon to live with her relatives, the Carters, but she is quite disappointed when she meets them, and doesn’t realise that all they are interested in is her inheritance.

On the journey to her new home, Maia meets her governess, Miss Minton, and in the Amazon Maia makes friends, including Clovis and Finn. Maia goes on adventures and helps her friends when they are in danger.

This book is sad, suspenseful, intriguing, exiting and very well written. The author Eva Ibbotson has written many other books, four of which I read: The Secret of Platform 19, Which Witch, One Dog and his Boy, and Dial a Ghost.

I would also highly recommend these books but Journey to the River Sea is my favourite.  I would easily rate it 10/10.
