A Fine Line

Police in Vietnam have been praised for punishing minor traffic offences by getting the law-breaking motorists to write out lines.

One officer decided to give an offender the choice of paying a fine or writing ‘I promise not to travel in the wrong direction on a one-way street again’ 50 times.

By doing this, Vietnamese Police believe the woman will be more aware of one-way streets in the future.

They also believe she went away feeling better for having learned something instead of the usual feelings of anger and upset.

Hmmm, I’d like to hear her version of that!
